The Organizing Committee is pleased to welcome you to the beautiful city of La Rochelle for the 6th edition of the International Workshop on Design of Reliable Communication Networks (DRCN).

DRCN has become a well-established forum for scientists of both industry and academy who have interest in reliability and availability of telecommunication networks, and related topics. The aim of this workshop is to bring together people from various disciplines, ranging from equipment and technology for survivability to network management and monitoring, through methods and theory for survivable and robust network design.
After the success of previous DRCN events, the last one being in the beautiful Ischia Island, La Rochelle represents a perfect transition for DRCN 2007.

This edition is devoted to the central theme "Reliability issues in network convergence" and features all the new challenges encountered in the field of telecommunications from access to core networks, sharpened by the fixed/mobile convergence.
Our main goal has been twofold:
 to focus on practical solutions and theoretical methods of problems related to the design, deployment, and operations of reliable communication systems ;
 to create a suitable environment for discussion to flourish and friendly relationships to develop among experts with various background and from many countries.

The support of the 2007 event by diverse scientific and technical organizations/societies has obviously assessed the importance of the reliability issues in various ways. However, the success of DRCN mainly lies on the enthusiastic contribution of many individuals.

We would like to first acknowledge our appreciation to the TPC members and additional reviewers who have significantly contributed to the quality of the scientific program through the selection process. The technical program thus comprises 50 papers which are presented into two topical streams, and we do believe that it will foster fruitful exchange of ideas and experience. We are also indebted to the Keynote Speakers, The Tutorial Chairs and the Panelists who made the technical program most attractive.

We are grateful too to the Organizing Committee and SEE for their tireless efforts to set up an excellent working environment in La Rochelle.

Finally, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all the Patrons who generously provided their support to DRCN 2007.
